Treaty of Waitangi writing prompt 1
The British people and the Maori people are together to sign the Treaty. The New Zealand flag is on the table. The British flags are hanging all around the tent. The ladies are wearing fancy clothes. They are all standing there like mannequins waiting there for the man to finish signing the treaty and the Maori have spears and the captain of the Maori tribe have some feather at the top.The Treaty of Waitangi was sign 6 February 1840 at the Bay of Islands .Hone Heke was a powerful leader and He was born in 1808. James Busby was born 1802.
The people that are watching are the Maori people and the British people. Why are the Maori people sitting down and the British people standing up.The reason why they are dressed like that is because it's a special day. The Maori people are signing the Treaty of Waitangi because they thought that the British will keep the promise. I think the New Zealand flag is on the table because it is the Maori declaration of signing the Treaty.
